There have been numerous times in my life when I have jumped into a fitness plan with the aim of both getting in shape and losing weight. Some of those times I have done it in a mindful and thus successful way, others I have leaped in with no plan only to be left feeling overly fatigued with no movement on the scales.
Maintaining energy during your weight loss journey will be a key element to achieving your goals. If you are mid-diet and feeling exhausted, or want to know how to get going in a way that will maintain energy then this article is just for you. Read on for top tips on how to stay energetic and focused while losing weight.
Preparation and Planning
Weight loss will not occur just out of the blue. It will take a serious amount of preparation and be planning to ensure you have the right combo of healthy food and regular exercise for your specific body needs. There is no one size fits all diet, each person will require different caloric intake and length and intensity of exercise to achieve his/her goals.
Often, food preparation is a major barrier for people to successfully lose weight. With busy schedules, it can be hard to figure out what to eat and when to eat it. If this sounds like you, then meal replacement shakes may be the answer. A meal replacement shake is a great way to kick off healthy eating that will ensure you maintain energy. Shakes often are high in protein with a nice sweet flavor that can also help with those sweet cravings!
I have found that, when I shift into a really clean living lifestyle, I crave sweets a bit more than usual – probably because I am not having as many! A chocolate meal replacement shake for lunch is the perfect solution and the calories and nutrients are all prepared for you so you can focus on what dress you are going to buy once you drop those pesky kgs!
Simple and Sustainable
Weight loss isn’t likely to occur if you do a radical overhaul of everything you are eating and drinking. The key to successful weight loss comes with making simple and sustainable changes to your diet and lifestyle. One of the methods I have used that has achieved the greatest results is to spend one month doing 100% clean eating. This month is challenging, but there is an end in sight. The month kick-starts weight loss and gets my metabolism working efficiently.
After the month, I move to an 80% clean 20% more adaptable mindset. This 80/20 method is incredibly achievable because you can have a healthy protein packed salad at lunch that maintains energy levels to then enjoy a glass of wine with friends after work. Trying to cut carbs entirely or live off just meat and cheese may show results in the short term, but these are not long-term solutions to weight loss.
Often weight loss is a topic that evokes stress and negativity. But this does not have to be the case. Establishing and implementing a goal to eat healthier to lose weight can be not only enjoyable but rewarding as well. Eating healthier and prioritizing regular movement will surely boost energy levels and mood with the added bonus of shifting unwanted weight off your body.
If weight loss is something that has been on your mind but you have been afraid to take the plunge, know that you are not alone. Plan ahead, make changes that are sustainable and enjoy your increased energy levels and increased comfort in your clothes!
