Small Tips When Doing Nails

As a 10-year-old kid, I was never interested I painting my nails with horrendous girly nail colors or drawing prints on my nails that made no sense. I was more engrossed in playing ‘tap- you’re IT’ with my pals in the nearest park, getting that unrequired tan and being scolded by my mother later on.

However, all of this changed when I got various nail paints on my 13th birthday. Has it also happened to you? Getting all excited and happy about things that you once hated?

I used to hate dressing up but as soon as I became a teenager, I was all into making myself look as pretty as I can. Scratch that. Trying to look pretty and end up looking like a troll!

As I had no clue how to do my nails, I would always end up having clumpy nails as I would always overdo with my coating. Those pretty nail prints that I saw online on my laptop would look so funny on my nails.

Yes, I definitely regretted not hanging out with my 18-year-old sister who was a pro at getting dressed.

Time To Do Wonders With Your Nails!

I still remember the cringe on my parent’s faces when I used to show them my nail color. Well, looking at them myself, I wouldn’t blame them for their reaction. I was tired of trying so hard and not getting the perfect nails.

This is when I started watching YouTube tutorials and trust me, girl, those tutorials changed my life and since then I have been addicted to YouTube tutorials.

By watching at least hundreds of videos related to doing your nails, I have come up with 7 small and easy tips to do your nails. These tips include all the “do’s and don’ts” when painting your nails.

In case you were wondering, I can now paint my nails in the most perfect way so it is about time that you start doing that too!

1. Always Prep Your Nails

Before you even think of applying nail polish, go and WASH YOUR HANDS.

Once you are done with that, take a toothbrush and rub hand soap on your nails with it as it will you get rid of all the oils, dust, and moisture that can stop the nail paint from sticking.

This is a must-do step that a lot of people forget about doing and then cry later on when their nail paint becomes clumpy.

2. A BIG No to the Old ‘n’ Thick Nail Polish

Another mistake that almost all of us end up doing sometimes is using our old nail polishes. It is time to throw them away. You cannot hold onto something which isn’t doing you any good. Yes, I got a bit deep, but hey! It’s true.

Many girls use a nail remover to make their old and thick nail paints thinner, but their results won’t be as good as the new ones.

Grab some money or your father’s credit card (if you’re lucky) and do some nail paint shopping! It is always nice to have new things.

You can also read this review on the best non-toxic nail polishes before going out for nail paint shopping as it will give you knowledge about how these brands work.

3. Shaking Your Nail Polish; NOT A GOOD IDEA

Most of us do the mistake of shaking the nail paint before applying it. This will not do you any good, trust me on this one!

If you want to get rid of the air bubbles inside the nail paint, then all you have to do is hold the nail paint and roll it back and forth between your hands. Now your nail paint is all ready to be applied!

4. Never Skip the Base Coat

I am going to repeat this again and again until you finally grasp its importance. Never skip the base coat. Never skip the base coat. Never skip the base coat. I think this is enough… for now!

The base coat will give your nail polish something to stick onto which is why it is always a good idea to apply a base coat. This will also keep your nails from getting stained through pigmented nail paints.

5. Thin Coats; OH YES!

Instead of applying one thick coat of nail paint, always do thin strokes of nail paint on your SNS nails at home. I always prefer to do three thin coats as it makes my nail paint look smooth.

6. Seal the Deal with a Top Coat

The topcoat is just as important as the base coat. Topcoat always gives your nail paint a good final look.

7. Avoid Chipping Your Nails

If you want to avoid chipping your nail paint then try not to do anything with your hands until the nail paint has completely dried off. Try to stay away from hot water as well.

These tips helped me in getting smooth and perfect-looking nails. Now I don’t have to worry about my nails getting chipped or the cringe on people’s faces when they used to see my nail paint. If you still can’t do it right, then spend some more money and get your nails done from a parlor!
